The National Science Foundation (NSF) Alan T. Waterman Award is the nation's highest honor for early career scientists and engineers. NSF Waterman Award recipients demonstrate exceptional individual achievements in scientific or engineering research of sufficient quality at the forefront of his or her peers and receive a grant over five years for scientific research or advanced study in any field of science.
