Student Programs
Real-world skills and experience is important for our students to have before they graduate. By supporting the Student Projects Fund, you are allowing our students to take the knowledge they have acquired from our renowned faculty members in a classroom setting and apply them first-hand through their team projects while working on real-life scenarios. For example:
- Our USC Racing and SC Solar Car teams builds a race car from the ground up each and every year. They then work to determine the mechanics of the car to see if it will run and how fast at a national competition each year among other top universities.

- Student teams such as Spark SC and USC’s Society of Women Engineers work to teach STEM to young students in our local communities using the knowledge they acquired in their classes to help and inspire the next generation in engineering and science.

- USC’s Engineers Without Borders travel to underdeveloped countries to help implement projects that will improve the infrastructures of these communities and help them to meet basic human needs. Our students help to build a water collection, filtration and distribution system for the community and assist in building a new and improved irrigation system.

- Our USC Rocket Propulsion Laboratory (RPL) team builds rockets and launches them into the atmosphere, in hopes to launch and recover the world's first entirely student-designed and -fabricated rocket past the Karman line, the recognized boundary of space at 100 km (328,084 ft.).

Fun Fact: On April 21, 2019, RPL’s Traveler IV surpassed the world altitude record for student rocketry teams. They became the first undergraduate team to design, build, and successfully launch a single stage rocket past the Kármán line.
