USC and College of Engineering of Peking University (PKU)
The Partnership

USC Viterbi School of Engineering and the College of Engineering of Peking University (PKU), Beijing, China, has established a partnership for a broad spectrum of educational and research collaborations between the two institutions, including student exchange, and joint educational and research programs in targeted areas, hosting of PhD students with China Scholarship awards, and faculty exchanges for short term and long term.

The key objective of this partnership is to strengthen educational and scientific interaction between students and faculty, to stimulate active sharing of scientific knowledge and best practices and to provide an international experiential learning opportunity for students and faculty in both entities.

The new "i-Podium™" facilities to be established on the campuses of the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering and the Peking University College of Engineering (see "Useful Links") will enable students in Beijing and Los Angeles to take courses together, engage in discussions and participate in team projects in complete synchronization over the information infrastructure.

As quoted by PKU's Dean Chen, “It can be a global network in which engineer leaders in both nations can collaborative freely and thus promoted Sino-American higher-education cooperation. It is a small step for the PKU-USC joint institute; but a big step for the development of the 21st century global education model.”
