Azad Madni Receives Prestigious Award from National Defense Industrial Association

Professor of astronautical engineering and director of the Systems Architecting and Engineering program receives individual recognition for his contributions to the systems engineering discipline.

Azad Madni received this year's LtGen Thomas R. Ferguson, Jr. Systems Engineering Excellence Award.

Azad Madni, professor of astronautical engineering and director of the Systems Architecting and Engineering Program (SAE) at USC Viterbi School of Engineering, is the recipient of the 2020 Lt Gen Thomas R. Ferguson Excellence in Systems Engineering award. This award is presented annually by the National Defense Industrial Association.

The LtGen Thomas R. Ferguson, Jr. Systems Engineering Excellence Award is given to an individual who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the practical application of systems engineering principles, promotion of robust systems engineering principles throughout the organization, or effective systems engineering process development, and through their systems engineering contributions, helped achieve significant cost savings due to new or enhanced processes procedures and/or concepts, increased mission capabilities, or substantially increased performance.

This award was presented on Wednesday, November 11th at the 2020 Virtual Systems and Mission Engineering Conference.

Madni was recognized for his contributions to the systems engineering discipline and stellar accomplishments in the advancement of cutting-edge systems engineering principles, models, and methods to the Department of Defense’s most pressing systems engineering problems.
