Adam Russell, AI/nthropologist and Director of the AI Division at the USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI), is on a journey to help build a better world with AI. He interviews the ISI humans behind AI to understand what motivates them, how they shape AI today, and where they hope AI will go.
Ulf Hermjakob, a computer scientist at ISI, explains why people developing feeling of empathy for AI could be beneficial in some cases. He shares his experiences as a teacher, including how AI has affected his students’ learning and how he hopes education can teach students to use the technology better. He describes how AI is spreading into fields where people might not expect it, and why. He discusses a time when he had to correct an opinion he had about AI research and explains how his work aims to help humans understand each other and increase access to the information on the internet.
