ISI/nsiders - ISI

ISI/nsiders – ISI

Adam Russell, AI/nthropologist and Director of the AI Division at the USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI), is on a journey to help build a better world with AI. After launching AI/nsiders in 2023 where he interviewed the ISI humans behind our AI research, he expands his quest to the other disciplines researched at ISI. Networking, cybersecurity, computing, microelectronics, quantum, space, ISI scientists have a lot to say about the state of their fields, their research topics, and how AI fits into them.

Wes Hardaker, a Senior Computer Scientist at ISI, shares why he tries to learn something new every day. He explores why the DNS, or Domain Name System, is so important for everyday use of the internet and explains how a project he’s working on aims to help more people understand how it works. He discusses how instant communication has changed the way people approach problems.  He shares how the perspective that his time managing internet infrastructure and being in the field during the Dot-Com Era has given him affects how he looks at the current boom in artificial intelligence. Listen to his episode of ISI/nsiders below.
