The Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering hosted the 2023 Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) Workshop, an annual event highlighting the latest research and trends in the mixed integer and discrete optimization field.
Over 100 attendees participated in the workshop at USC’s University Park Campus from May 22 – 25, 2023. The workshop was organized by USC Assistant Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering Andrés Gómez on behalf of the Mixed Integer Programing Society (MIPS), a section of the Mathematical Optimization Society.
Mixed integer programming is a research discipline that deals with mathematical optimization problems with many continuous or discrete decision variables. The field provides a framework that can be applied to solve a wide range of real-world problems.
The 2023 event featured expert speakers from institutions such as Clemson University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Georgia Tech University, UCLA, CAL, ENSA Paris, Google, KTH University, and Zuse Institute-Berlin. Students and postdoctoral researchers had the opportunity to showcase their work in poster sessions.
The event was supported by the Epstein Institute, Rutgers, Google, Gurobi and several industry sponsors.
