ISI/nsiders – ISI

Adam Russell, AI/nthropologist and Director of the AI Division at the USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI), is on a journey to help build a better world with AI. After launching AI/nsiders in 2023 where he interviewed the ISI humans behind our AI research, he expands his quest to the other disciplines researched at ISI. Networking, cybersecurity, computing, microelectronics, quantum, space, ISI scientists have a lot to say about the state of their fields, their research topics, and how AI fits into them.

Erik Kline, a Computer Scientist and Principal Scientist at ISI, discusses why collaboration is critical to progress. He shares what brought him to working with computers, along with why he moved away from an initial interest in creating games. He speaks about how his work relates to helping protect others online, including what challenges accompany that goal. He explains what movies and TV often get wrong about cybersecurity. He explores what excites him about the future of cybersecurity and why some of what he looks forward to also worries him. Listen to his episode of ISI/nsiders below.
