Re-Imagining the Science and Engineering Library

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering and USC Libraries are re-imagining the university’s Science & Engineering Library to become a top-tier engineering undergraduate Design/Build Space (DBSP) that is creatively combined with the Library’s mission to promote knowledge acquisition, studying and collaborative learning.

We believe this project will transform our undergraduate engineering educational experience and create a comprehensive center that fosters hands-on innovation, experimentation, design and entrepreneurship.

Over the past several years, design/build spaces have become a priority at engineering schools nationwide. Specifically, their traction with libraries is noteworthy, as educational institutions look to maximize their facilities’ reach while providing a place where an entrepreneurial culture can flourish.

The potential exists to transform the Science & Engineering Library into a hub of creative activity and a physical expression of the university’s cutting-edge approach to engineering education and library services.
