Arens: Congratulations to all the winners!
The ISI Intelligent Systems Division continued a tradition by holding its competitive symposium, with prizes for best papers, presentations, and posters.
“”t was a great opportunity for students to practice their writing and presentation skills and for everyone to hear more about the exciting research that is being conducted in the division,” said ISD direct Yigal Arens, who presided over the subsequent awards ceremonies.Papers submitted by students were reviewed by a group of research staff and graduate students who selected a number of those for oral presentation and posters.
The audience at the symposium listened to the presentations, viewed the posters and voted on the best among them.
The following awards were presented at the conclusion of the voting:
Best Paper:

Best Paper Runners Up:

Best Poster Runners Up:

A special award was given to the Best Student Reviewer, Jon May (third year running!).

“Congratulations to all the winners!” said Arens. But they didn’t just get applause; they alsi received paper certificates, gift certificates to the USC bookstore, “and they’ll receive plaques that they can display on their desks for everyone to see.”
The best paper, presentation and poster winners will also have their names added to the plaque on the 9th floor.
“I would like to thank all those involved in putting together this wonderful event,” added Arens: “The students who wrote and submitted papers, the reviewers, the staff who as always made sure that everyone present was well fed, and last but not least, Rahul Bhagat, Yao-Yi Chiang, and Sujith Ravi who worked hard to organize the symposium!
