Adam Russell, AI/nthropologist and Director of the AI Division at the USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI), is on a journey to help build a better world with AI. He interviews the ISI humans behind AI to understand what motivates them, how they shape AI today, and where they hope AI will go.

Keith Burghardt is a Computer Scientist at ISI who works in AI to understand hate and biases online in order to tackle them. He shares how his father’s work in diversity, equity and inclusion affected his decision to work in addressing biases with AI, as well as his interest in unsolved mysteries of history. He explains how science fiction novels, futuristic movies like Ghost in the Shell, and genres such as cyberpunk can help us think about AI.
