Adam Russell, AI/nthropologist and Director of the AI Division at the USC Information Sciences Institute (ISI), is on a journey to help build a better world with AI. He interviews the ISI humans behind AI to understand what motivates them, how they shape AI today, and where they hope AI will go.

Mayank Kejriwal, who works as a Principal Scientist ISI, explains what he wouldn’t want AI to learn from his favorite novel. From an intro course taken by chance to Star Trek, he describes what sparked his interest in AI and brought him to where he works today. He shares how he’s addressed the use of ChatGPT in his classroom and what the responsibilities of teachers and universities are.
